MSC is excited to return for another summer season of creating beautiful music together. Leading us this season will be Meredith Wanstall, who will be stepping in as Artistic Director while Kai Leung and Associate Conductor Emily Parker will be participating in World Youth Choir.
We are excited to introduce this year’s theme, INTERWOVEN PATHS. Interwoven Paths invites us all to reflect on the meaningful connections in our lives, past and ongoing, that have helped to shape the direction of our own journey. Crossing paths with other people can bring up a wide array of feelings due to the personal change involved, both challenging and beautiful to experience. This program also recognizes the power of collective action. By walking together on the same path, even just for a while, we can have a magnified impact on our community and the world around us.
Unlike prior years, this summer, both Frisson and Sehnsucht will be combining as one choir. Building upon our summer theme, Interwoven Paths, interweaving these two choirs this year creates a new opportunity for exploration, creativity, and community.
MSC is dedicated to providing a safe and inclusive space for individuals with diverse backgrounds and abilities. We actively work to accommodate accessibility needs, such as providing accessible rehearsal venues and offering support for individuals with disabilities. Our goal is to create an environment where everyone feels valued, included, and empowered to participate fully in our choral experience. Through our commitment to accessibility and financial affordability, we aim to break down every barrier that may hinder young adults from pursuing their passion for choral music. We wish to create a community that truly represents the diversity and richness of voices within the GTA.

When Modern Sound Collective began in 2015, we were a single choir, dedicated to bringing together old friends for a summer of causal high-level singing. The organization has since expanded to 4 choirs, 8 artistic staff, and a program that results in excellent music making year after year. The objective of bringing friends together is still at the heart of what we aim to do, and we would like to emphasize that if any chorister is unable to pay the fee, they can contact us via email to request a subsidy. Financial situations should never prevent someone from participating in choir, and we are committed to accommodating choristers’ needs to the greatest extent possible. If you have any additional questions that have not yet been addressed, do not hesitate to contact our Choir Representative, Laura Ferlanti. We are looking forward to singing together soon.
